Nearly six years after the largest and most expensive inland oil spill in American history, Enbridge Inc. has agreed to pay a $177 million in a settlement announced July 20, 2016.
Here's a look at the past six years of the oil spill:

July 26, 2010
A Consumers Energy employee calls the Enbridge control center to alert them of the oil spilling into Talmadge Creek, which feeds into the Kalamazoo River. Enbridge responds with efforts to contain the oil, and officials from Kalamazoo County and Calhoun County also respond. A state of emergency is declared the following day.
