Sign out of Chrome or delete a synced account
You can sign out (or disconnect) your Google Account from Chrome at any time. This stops Chrome from syncing to your Google Account on the device you were signed in to. You can also remove a person from Chrome, which erases their Chrome data from the device.
Option 1: Sign out of Chrome
When you sign out of Chrome, your data will stop syncing to your Google Account on the device you're using. There will still be data stored on the device from when you were signed in, but any new data or changes you make in Chrome on your device won't sync going forward.

Option 2: Stop and clear synced data (reset sync)
If you want to stop your Google Account from syncing to Chrome altogether, or need to reset sync, you can "stop and clear" your synced data.
To stop and clear your synced data or reset a sync passphrase, follow these steps:
- Open your Google Dashboard. Make sure you are signed in to your Google Account.
- Click Reset sync to stop syncing and clear all of your synced data.
- Click OK.
Note: You only need to do this once. It will stop sync on all of your devices. Your data will still be available in Chrome on your device(s).
Option 3: Remove yourself or another person from Chrome permanently
When you "remove a person" from Chrome, all their Chrome data will be erased from the device. This action can't be undone. This is different from signing out, which stops syncing to the Google Account but keeps data on the device. In both cases, if you've synced your Chrome data to a Google Account, you'll be able to get it back anywhere you sign in to Chrome.
For example, you should remove yourself from Chrome if you mistakenly signed in to Chrome on a public computer.

Using Chrome at school or work? If your school or workplace uses Google Apps, and you disconnect your Google Apps account from Chrome, your Chrome data will be deleted from the computer you are working on. A dialog will appear, asking you to confirm that you want to delete your data.
Are you an IT manager or administrator? You can set a Chrome policy (RestrictSigninToPatten) that restricts which users can sign in to Chrome (for example, only users in your organization). You can also set a policy (SigninAllowed) that prevents users from signing in to Chrome entirely (for example, on a public computer). Learn more about setting Chrome policies for devices.
