Trump administration uses fuzzy logic to derail $11 billion tunnel plan for New York and New Jersey

“The president is concerned about the viability of this project and the fact that New York and New Jersey have no skin in the game. They need to step up and bear their fair share. They are two of the richest states in the country.”
— Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, discussing the Gateway project at a House hearing, March 6, 2018
The “Gateway project” is code for a new rail tunnel connecting New Jersey and New York. Supporters say it’s sorely needed because the existing, waterlogged tunnels under the Hudson River are 108 years old and nearly unusable.
Chao once called Gateway an “absolute priority,” but she changed her tune after The Washington Post reported that President Trump, amid a feud with Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), is asking Republicans to kill funding for the tunnel.
Now, the Department of Transportation says New Jersey and New York want a fantasyland funding deal. Chao complained to lawmakers that under the states’ proposal, the federal government would be providing 100 percent of the money for the Gateway tunnel and 95 percent of the money for a related project: replacing the Portal Bridge in New Jersey. (That’s another 108-year-old structure near Manhattan that services trains traveling up and down the East Coast.)

“They’re putting in less than 5 percent on one and zero in the other,” Chao testified before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
The states, however, since 2015 have proposed to split Gateway costs 50/50 with the federal government. “Fifty percent is more than the federal government usually asks for such projects, so she’s just dead wrong,” Schumer said. “She doesn’t know her facts, or she’s dead wrong.”
What we have here is a black-and-white disagreement over basic facts. Do New Jersey and New York really want a full ride from the federal government, as Chao says?

The Facts

Train delays and derailments are a fact of life for hundreds of thousands of riders shuttling daily between New Jersey and New York. This congestion dominoes up and down the East Coast, since the Hudson River tunnels are a choke point for all Amtrak trains traveling through New York to other cities such as Boston or the District.
With few exceptions, political leaders in New Jersey and New York have long recognized this situation as a budding crisis. A previous tunnel project, called Access to the Region’s Core (ARC), had been slated for completion this year. But then-Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) canceled it in 2010, citing disputed cost overruns, at a time when the tea party was flexing its muscle over federal spending.
ADVERTISING
The Gateway project, announced in 2011, became the region’s next big hope.New Jersey and New York are seeking funding for the first phase: Building the new rail tunnel and replacing the Portal Bridge. The new tunnel is estimated to cost $11.1 billion. If it gets funded, construction would run from 2019 to 2026. Replacing the Portal Bridge would cost another $1.56 billionand is slated to be done in 2023.
Without a new tunnel, the economic and environmental impact in the region would be severe, according to several experts and a 2012 study by the Government Accountability Office. But with Trump and Republicans from other parts of the country opposed to Gateway, securing the funds will be an uphill climb.
Chao has two primary concerns with the states’ funding proposal and we’re going to unpack each of her arguments. We reached out to DOT officials and aides for several lawmakers from New Jersey and New York. Because of the sensitivity and ongoing nature of the Gateway negotiations, these officials spoke to The Fact Checker on the condition of anonymity.

There's a ton of money in this!

Do you have a "basic" knowledge of electrical systems and engines? It's easy enough to learn if you don't and I'll share some links.

Tons of people around the world pour big money into RC's yet finding a good RC mechanic can be difficult but you can be an RC tech yourself.

 What you'll need to begin:
 - Basic RC toolkit that can be purchased on Amazon or probably at your local hobby store..
 - A drill.
 - A voltmeter
 - Some tape.
 - Clay.
 - Some wire strippers and shrink wrap.
 - A small room with a basic work table. *I live on a smaller yacht and don't even have this.

*I'm purchasing old RC cars, boats, trucks, drones and Quadcopters if you have anything to sell? ntech-solutions@live.com or text to: 386-262-8071

This link will get you started > http://www.air.flyingway.com/books/The-Essential-Guide-to-RC-Cars.pdf

 - Electrical > http://www.gearseds.com/files/determining_battery_capacity3.pdf

 - Small combustion engines > https://authors.library.caltech.edu/25069/6/AirPollution88-Ch4.pdf

More at > https://www.nikostoybox.com/thetoys
A person can pick up used RC's dirt cheap on C List or Ebay, upgrade the motors, engines, gears and battery and sell them on the same platform you purchased them on.

This was just a quick reference to a $$$ getter if you have an interest.

 - You have the "kings" or presidents and dictators, etc.
 - And then you have the "gods" who answer to no one but God himself. We circumvent all your rules and regulations, challenge all indoctrinated values and most of all, "Live by loopholes, not laws"!

MONSANTO PROTECTION ACT SIGNED BY WHO?

*I don't belong to any party, church or religion, no groups & no peoples. I pay no mind to my race, color, nationality or any of that self-binding bullshit to "feel" as though I belong.

GMO BILL WRITTEN BY MONSANTO ITSELF SIGNED INTO LAW WHETHER IT CAUSES CANCER OR NOT!

But first a little education >

The Monsanto Protection Act, essentially both written by and benefitting Monsanto Corporation, has been signed into law by United States President Barack Obama. The infamous Monsanto Corporation will benefit greatly and directly from the bill, as it essentially gives companies that deal with genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and genetically engineered (GE) seeds immunity to the federal courts, among other things. The bill states that even if future research shows that GMOs or GE seeds cause significant health problems, cancer, etc, anything, that the federal courts no longer have any power to stop their spread, use, or sales.

20130330-194119.jpg

There are of course arguments to be made that not enough research has been done yet to accurately determine the effects that GMOs have on human and animal health (though the research already done should make you stop and think). This bill sidesteps that completely though, and simply states that even if there are problems, that the federal courts can no longer do anything about it. And this bill is now law, thanks to President Obama and the U.S. Congress.

Some other interesting things to keep in mind:

– The bill was apparently written by freshman Sen. Roy Blunt in collusion with Monsanto, with them helping to craft the exact language of the document.

– “The Center for Responsive Politics notes that Sen. Blunt received $64,250 from Monsanto to go towards his campaign committee between 2008 and 2012. The Money Monocle website adds that Blunt has been the largest Republican Party recipient of Monsanto funding as of late.”

– Many members of Congress were apparently unaware that the “Monsanto Protection Act” was a part of the spending bill that they were voting on.

– Obama had no problem signing it into law (not really a surprise, he’s been rather soft on GMO policy).

– The bill will only remain in effect for a limited time, but it’s a bad sign. With the ease that this bill passed, it’ll be interesting to see what future bills look like.

As the Daily News asks, “Who’s more powerful, the world’s largest producer of genetically modified crops or the U.S. government?”

“On Tuesday, Pres. Obama inked his name to H.R. 933, a continuing resolution spending bill approved in Congress days earlier. Buried 78 pages within the bill exists a provision that grossly protects biotech corporations such as the Missouri-based Monsanto Company from litigation.”

“In light of approval from the House and Senate, more than 250,000 people signed a petition asking the president to veto the spending bill over the biotech rider tacked on, an item that has since been widely referred to as the ‘Monsanto Protection Act.'”

“But Obama ignored [the petition],” as the IB Times notes, “instead choosing to sign a bill that effectively bars federal courts from being able to halt the sale or planting of GMO or GE crops and seeds, no matter what health consequences from the consumption of these products may come to light in the future.”

GMOs, while they may cause problems for human health, are primarily a problem for other reasons, mostly to do with crop/genetic diversity and overly complex industrial systems. And also the fact that they often don’t even work the way that they are “supposed” to.

When taken in context though, GMOs are really just another in a long line of environmentally damaging practices that people have done for short term gain/profit. From the large-scale deforestation of the world’s old-growth forests, to sustenance farming, to modern imported-fertilizer/pesticide/herbicide/fossil-fuel dependent industrial agricultural, the trend has been consistent, GMOs are just another in that line of attempts to temporarily maintain/raise crop yields. Regardless of the type of agriculture or the location, there are limits to how long any land can remain productive, applying imported fertilizers, or utilizing GMOs, only provides, at best, a temporary halt to the land’s transition to non-productive “wasteland”, and to desertification.

These Are the Ways Donald Trump’s Presidency Could End in 2018

 1. He could be impeached

Although it’s pretty unlikely Trump would get impeached, it’s definitely a possibility. But remember, it takes more than just impeachment to have a sitting president removed from office — just ask Bill Clinton.
Even if the House decides to impeach Trump, the Senate must also try and convict him by a two-thirds vote for him to be forced out. In the history of America, only two presidents have ever been impeached, and neither was removed from office. The former president most likely to be both impeached and removed — Richard Nixon — resigned before proceedings could begin.

2. He could be removed by the 25th Amendment

While impeachment seems to be everyone’s go-to for ousting Trump from office, it’s much more likely that he’d be removed by using the 25th Amendment. This is still a rare possibility, but it’s more likely than successfully impeaching Trump.
The amendment states that if the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet find the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”
Both Republicans and Democrats have expressed their misgivings about Trump’s ability to lead, comparing him to an “unruly toddler who has to be tricked and manipulated into not causing too much damage.”
But do the members of his Cabinet and Vice President Mike Pence truly believe Trump is unable to fulfill his duties? So far, it seems the answer is no.

3. He could be forced to leave office for health reasons

*I still believe most Americans are retarded, D. Trump was "voted" into office by the majority of US citizens. That boils down to more than 50% of voters SO... Donald's not the problem, it's every other person you associate with +1. Dumb ass!

RC's Gas vs. Electric

I've had my electric 1/0 scale "Losi", "Just Twisted" the longest yet I recently purchased a used Traxxas Revo 3.3 Nitro. To keep this little competition fair I sent the Traxxas to an expert mechanic and told him to make it run flat out. *I personally doesn't think it has a chance!
I don't know the year or model of my "Losi" so I have to fabricate most of its parts.
*After I post the RC pics, I'll give you a 3 or 4 second look at, "Tied & Twisted" my now 700+hp S10.

People Foods to Avoid Feeding Your Pets

Yesterday there was a knock on my boat and as it would happen, the little Asian lady that has a yacht on my pier was standing there crying. She explained that her dog had eaten her Asian food (Typically contains garlic and onions)
I jumped on the laptop and got an emergency animal hospital's address and number before going to get the dog. I got him wrapped, his eyes were clear and his nose was wet, he felt strong.
Sadly, when she returned not more than 30 minutes later I'm thinking "overnight observation" but nope, her pooch had moved on to the next life so...
People Foods to Avoid Feeding Your Pets
Our Animal Poison Control Center experts have put together a handy list of the top toxic people foods to avoid feeding your pet. As always, if you suspect your pet has eaten any of the following foods, please note the amount ingested and contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435.

Alcohol
Alcoholic beverages and food products containing alcohol can cause vomiting, diarrhea, decreased coordination, central nervous system depression, difficulty breathing, tremors, abnormal blood acidity, coma and even death. Under no circumstances should your pet be given any alcohol. If you suspect that your pet has ingested alcohol, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center immediately.

Avocado
Avocado is primarily a problem for birds, rabbits, donkeys, horses, and ruminants including sheep and goats. The biggest concern is for cardiovascular damage and death in birds.  Horses, donkeys and ruminants frequently get swollen, edematous head and neck.
Chocolate, Coffee and Caffeine
These products all contain substances called methylxanthines, which are found in cacao seeds, the fruit of the plant used to make coffee, and in the nuts of an extract used in some sodas. When ingested by pets, methylxanthines can cause vomiting and diarrhea, panting, excessive thirst and urination, hyperactivity, abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures and even death. Note that darker chocolate is more dangerous than milk chocolate. White chocolate has the lowest level of methylxanthines, while baking chocolate contains the highest.

Citrus
The stems, leaves, peels, fruit and seeds of citrus plants contain varying amounts of citric acid, essential oils that can cause irritation and possibly even central nervous system depression if ingested in significant amounts. Small doses, such as eating the fruit, are not likely to present problems beyond minor stomach upset.
Coconut and Coconut Oil
When ingested in small amounts, coconut and coconut-based products are not likely to cause serious harm to your pet. The flesh and milk of fresh coconuts do contain oils that may cause stomach upset, loose stools or diarrhea. Because of this, we encourage you to use caution when offering your pets these foods. Coconut water is high in potassium and should not be given to your pet.

Grapes and Raisins
Although the toxic substance within grapes and raisins is unknown, these fruits can cause kidney failure. Until more information is known about the toxic substance, it is best to avoid feeding grapes and raisins to dogs.

Macadamia Nuts
Macadamia nuts can cause weakness, depression, vomiting, tremors and hyperthermia in dogs. Signs usually appear within 12 hours of ingestion and can last approximately 12 to 48 hours.
Milk and Dairy
Because pets do not possess significant amounts of lactase (the enzyme that breaks down lactose in milk), milk and other dairy-based products cause them diarrhea or other digestive upset.

Nuts
Nuts, including almonds, pecans, and walnuts, contain high amounts of oils and fats. The fats can cause vomiting and diarrhea, and potentially pancreatitis in pets.

Onions, Garlic, Chives
These vegetables and herbs can cause gastrointestinal irritation and could lead to red blood cell damage. Although cats are more susceptible, dogs are also at risk if a large enough amount is consumed. Toxicity is normally diagnosed through history, clinical signs and microscopic confirmation of Heinz bodies.

Raw/Undercooked Meat, Eggs and Bones
Raw meat and raw eggs can contain bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli that can be harmful to pets and humans. Raw eggs contain an enzyme called avidin that decreases the absorption of biotin (a B vitamin), which can lead to skin and coat problems. Feeding your pet raw bones may seem like a natural and healthy option that might occur if your pet lived in the wild. However, this can be very dangerous for a domestic pet, who might choke on bones, or sustain a grave injury should the bone splinter and become lodged in or puncture your pet’s digestive tract.

Salt and Salty Snack Foods
Large amounts of salt can produce excessive thirst and urination, or even sodium ion poisoning in pets. Signs that your pet may have eaten too many salty foods include vomiting, diarrhea, depression, tremors, elevated body temperature, seizures and even death. As such, we encourage you to avoid feeding salt-heavy snacks like potato chips, pretzels, and salted popcorn to your pets.

Xylitol
Xylitol is used as a sweetener in many products, including gum, candy, baked goods and toothpaste. It can cause insulin release in most species, which can lead to liver failure. The increase in insulin leads to hypoglycemia (lowered sugar levels). Initial signs of toxicosis include vomiting, lethargy and loss of coordination. Signs can progress to seizures. Elevated liver enzymes and liver failure can be seen within a few days.

Yeast Dough
Yeast dough can rise and cause gas to accumulate in your pet’s digestive system. This can be painful and can cause the stomach to bloat, and potentially twist, becoming a life threatening emergency. The yeast produce ethanol as a by-product and a dog ingesting raw bread dough can become drunk (See alcohol).
