The future of transportation is already here

Let’s shake ourselves out of our four-wheeled stupor, look at the vehicles and devices being developed, and reimagine how we’ll move around our cities, says TED technology curator Alex Moura.

Humanity has come a long way from traveling by horse, but when we consider the future of transportation in cities, too many of us are still stuck in the 18th century. We still envision our streets full of four-wheel chariots (minus the horses), and our future as relying on cars or car-like vehicles, because that’s all we know. Why this myopia? For most automakers and transportation companies, adhering to the status quo is more profitable than experimenting; their business models, even for forward thinkers like Tesla, depend on their keeping drivers tethered with maintenance and service. And builders and urban planners have learned to limit their thinking because existing regulations and clunky political processes have made it nearly impossible to innovate without years of negotiations. As a result, we’re laying the foundations for a transportation future that carries forward the problems of the past.
But there can be another way forward, a new vision of transportation that upsets the four-wheel chariot model. And signs of it are already rolling across the landscape. By looking at some of the most advanced vehicles and devices out there — not just concept cars and prototypes but vehicles that are already in use or being road-tested in the real world — we can start to see a more interesting, less car-based future. Based on this new crop of transportation-related devices, I’m making the following four predictions:

1. Cars will become much, much smaller.

While SUV and truck sales have been on the rise worldwide, that trend has been boosted by low gasoline prices, which can’t last given the finite supplies of fossil fuels. As we move forward, personal urban transportation will be dominated byindividual vehicles. In 2015, Toyota launched a trial run of its three-wheeled i-Road electric vehicles — which resemble an enclosed motorcycle and fit only a driver and perhaps a small passenger — through a network of sharing stations in Tokyo. (We road-tested them at TED, too.) The project is now expanding throughout Japan, a nation with more electric car-charging stations than gas stations. In a bid to become the first country to embrace smart transportation systems, government officials have gone as far as trying to create international car-charging standards.

2. On sidewalks and bike lanes: pint-sized people movers.

In the next decades, bikes will still be a big part of how we move around urban areas. But while many people will continue to use bikes for health reasons, new technologies may overtake them, offering better ways to zip short distances inside cities. Much less cumbersome than a bicycle, scooter or Segway, these seated one-passenger devices take up roughly the space as a person. Without requiring handlebars or parking spaces, they’ll run on sidewalks, paved pedestrian areas and bike lanes. Honda’s Uni-Cub, a compact electric device with self-balancing technology, is being tested in airports, shopping malls, museums and other indoor venues in Japan (and in that OK Go video). It was designed so that riders could maintain eye-level interactions with other people. Unlike a bike or scooter, these devices leave a rider’s hands free to move, so she can do something else while she travels. Active transportation — devices that enhance our natural abilities, rather than restrict them — will be be an important part of the future.

3. Transport won’t just be about moving us around; it will be about moving our stuff, too.

Today, many people use cars because they need to haul groceries, work supplies, sports gear … stuff. In the future, we’ll use small wheeled robots that can follow us, like Gita, a mobile servant from Piaggio that is being tested in Italy. Gita was created by a group of historians, designers and architects who are trying to reimagine how our streets could be better used. Bonus: We’ll be able to program these rolling helpers to move autonomously, picking up and dropping off things for us all by themselves.

4. Self-driving vehicles will zip through invisible streets of data.

What’s stopping us from having a massive autonomous transportation system right now this minute? Old systems. Not just old streets, but weak data networks. Right now there’s a handful of self-driving cars and thousands of drones in use, but in the near future there will be millions of each, along with other new technologies, and they’ll all be able to communicate with each other and with our handheld and home devices. Superfast, reliable, omnipresent data networks like 5G and Super WiFi with large-scale antenna networks and millimeter wave technology must be built to accommodate the vast amount of data needed. Currently, no country in the world has the infrastructure to accommodate such a flow. Advanced networks are in development, with companies like Qualcomm, Nokia and Samsung field-testing and striving to make them available before 2030. When ready, they will truly turbocharge how we live and commute.
I know some naysayers may think these predictions are fantastical. But then, 20 years ago, I told my coworkers we’d soon be playing games on our phones and they all laughed. Let’s see what happens over the next 20 years!

The Network Of Everything: Personal Networks Will Have To Cope With At Least A Thousand Devices

There is a macro referential paradigm change from an Economy based on natural resources and physical inputs into one based on knowledge, Intellectual assets, technology market transfer processes and commercialization of innovation at global scale. In fact, this new paradigm is generating “innovation  waves” and “changes”.

One of the key driving forces is focusing on "Digital technologies": the Internet of Documents (Adobe), the Internet of Commerce (Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, JD, etc.), the Internet of People (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) and, more recently, the Internet of Things (IOT). About $700 billion USD were the annual revenues in 13 countries that represent approximately 70% of world GDP. Revenues will double to 1,55 trillion USD in 2017, while generating employment for 3 million people already and 23% annual increase in revenues. No doubt, app economy is flourishing. Moreover, falling smartphones' prices fuel global penetration and use in developing markets, by increasing from 20% in 2013 into 35% in 2017, while global users will raise from 1,5 billion to 3 billion in the same period. Besides, competition and innovative disruptions drives mobile internet growth and networks of things. In fact during 2008, the number of "things" connected to the internet exceeded the number of people on earth.

It is important to note that this "Network Everything" trend is leading society into new challenges like big data getting bigger, mobile computing, regulation, security and privacy and more globalization. But, what is more than "digital technology" as driving force are "social, educational and cultural changes", as well as the "digital business transformation" challenges ahead for governments, companies and citizens that will influence and shape industries, markets and behaviours.

Keywords: Regional Innovation Systems; Digital Business Transformation; Innovation Modelling; Internet-of-Things; Cross-Cultural Management and Globalization; Knowledge-based Economy; Growth; Competitiveness; Policy Making.

How accurate is IP Geo Location?

*I attempt to share complete knowledge of all the tips and tricks in the book yet there are many things I can not. Certain skills I picked up working for the Department of Defense simply can't be shared. I apologize yet it's simply par for the course.

Where's Waldo? Well, now you can find out—that is, if he's connecting with you online.
Through a simple Internet tool, you can generally get a good idea of where someone is communicating with you through the Internet, if you feel you need to do that. You can get pretty close to finding their location, but not as close as you think.
You can get a good idea of the where someone is emailing you from using a geolocation tool, like the one right on our site (see IP Lookup). And that, for the most part, should be good enough. It will not give you anyone's name and address, but it's not supposed to. That would be a violation of their privacy... and a little too creepy.
Zeroing In. Sort of.
When you came to the whatismyIPaddress.com website, you saw that your IP address was conveniently displayed on the home page. And you also saw—maybe surprisingly—that other information was displayed, such as your:
  • Country
  • Region
  • City
  • ZIP code
  • Longitude and latitude
Whoa! Where did that come from? It came from the IP address geolocation service used to look at the IP address of wherever you were when you visited our site. The IP address you saw could be your home computer's IP address, or the one at the local coffee shop or airport. It all depends on where you are.
Maybe that unnerves you a bit. But you can also look at this as a way to be educated on the power of the Internet and the tools that you (and others) can use to keep safe. (Read our section on Change IP Address.)
After all, your name, street address, nickname or favorite color were not revealed. Chances are, your location was, at best, some five or six miles away from your home.
And as this article is being written (at a local coffee shop), the geo-locator says I'm near Wichita, Kansas, when I'm in fact smelling the breezes off the Pacific Ocean between San Diego and Los Angeles. (If you go to our Hide IP address page you'll find out how that can happen.)
Still, even when not pinpoint accurate, geolocation usually puts a computer user in a nearby town or area, which may be good enough for the person who wants to know where the curious email they received was really sent from. Check out Trace Email.
According to companies that report on these things:
  • Accuracy rates on naming the city from an IP address vary between 50%-80%.
  • Determining the nation of an Internet user is 95%-99% percent accurate, for reasons that have to do with how IP addresses are allocated and registered.
  • Determining the physical location of the user, down to a city or ZIP code, is trickier and less accurate.

How to stop Apple and Google tracking your every move using your smartphone GPS

You might not know it, but Apple and Google are keeping an eye on your every move. Yes, right now. Wait, they saw that, stop, keep still.
Like Jurassic World's Indominus Rex, they've been watching without you knowing, with both companies using the geo-location data from your respective iOS and Android-powered smartphones to keep tabs on you.
Not only can they see where you've been - from the streets you've walked down to the shops and restaurants you've frequented - they can also monitor how long you've been there, and even the photos you shot while on location. Creepy, right?
If, like us, you're not too keen on two of the world's biggest companies snooping on your every move, there are measures you can take to avoid the sinister world of 24-hour surveillance

How to stop Google tracking your every move
Google recently launched 'Your Timeline', a desktop and Android service that lets you relive all of your minute-by-minute steps that it's been recording over the years - as if that somehow makes its super sleuthing more acceptable.
If you're over the location-based nostalgia and ready to rip out your tracking implants, just follow the below steps:
- Visit Google Your Timeline - www.google.co.uk/maps/timeline
- Select the 'Settings' icon from the bottom right corner
- Click 'Pause Location Data'
- Select 'Pause'
Although this will stop Google from collecting your future location-based data, it will not prevent the company delving back into your old habits. To completely clear your spied-on history, you need to:
- Return to the 'Settings' menu in Google Timeline
- Select 'Delete all Location History'
- Check the box 'I understand and want to delete all Location History'
- Click 'DELETE LOCATION HISTORY'
You can also cut the cord of social tracking directly from your Android device.
- Open the App drawer
- Find and select the 'Location' option
- Under 'Google Location Settings' find 'Location History'
- Deselect Location Reporting and select 'Delete Location History'
- You will need to do this for each individual Google account you've registered
It should be noted than turning off these services will limit the functionality of some mobile services - such as Google Maps and Search.
How to stop Apple spying on you
While Google's recent Timeline launch might have brought location-based tracking to people's attentions, it's not the only manufacturer that's been keeping an eye on you for some time now.
Apple has long been criticised for watching your daily habits, but it makes it surprisingly easy to cut the cord - assuming you know where to look, that is.
On your iPhone or iPad simply:
- Select the 'Privacy' tab from the 'Settings' app
- Choose the 'Location Services' sub-menu
- Toggle the 'Location Services' tab to off to cull all future location tracking or pick and choose which individual apps can access your data from the list
Sadly there is no easy way to remove all previously collected location data from your Apple account.
What's more, again culling location-tracking on your iOS device will limit your app options. Before running in gung-ho in a bid to reclaim your privacy, look at the apps you most frequently use - even the likes of Citymapper and Uber need to watch where you are to offer full functionality.

Cyber Security: 15 simple steps to protect your self against cyber attacks

We live in an era, where cyber security is a momentous issue.Cyber crimes are becoming the new normal nowadays.so what makes you think that you will be spared by cyber criminals?we have suggested some steps to remember for the rest of your life to safe guard your self from very common cyber attacks.so,let’s get back to the original question!

We live in an era, where cyber security is a momentous issue. Cyber crimes are becoming the new normal nowadays.so what makes you think that you will be spared by cyber criminals? we have suggested some steps to remember for the rest of your life to safe guard your self from very common cyber attacks. so, let’s get back to the original question!
how to protect your self from cyber attacks? or how to protect your self online?
Here’s what to do for protecting your self online.
1. Instead of ‘Passwords’, Use ‘Passphrases’ for Different websites
Use different user ID/password combinations for different accounts and avoid writing them down. you can create more complicated passwords by combining letters, numbers, special characters (minimum 8 characters in total) and change them on a regular basis.
Using pass-phrases is a wonderful idea, sentences such as ILoveFacebookSoMuch are very hard to crack!
You probably don’t want to remember too many passwords for too many websites.you can create your own format for passwords. for example: yourname(xx)@websitename, where xx is any 2 digits random number
2. Secure your computer/laptop physically and by:
Activating your firewall
A Firewall works exactly as the name suggests. it monitors all the incoming and outgoing traffic towards your computer. If your antivirus doesn’t include a  firewall, make sure you have windows firewall ‘Activated’.

Using Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware software
Prevent viruses from infecting your computer by installing and regularly updating Licensed anti-virus software. New research from Microsoft shows that nearly 10% of Windows 8 users are running expired AV software on their systems, making them four times more likely to get infected. To ensure maximum cyber security, most of the antivirus softwares protects from virues, malwares and rootkits, so you may not have to install multiple softwares.
Prevent spyware from getting into your computer by NOT installing ‘cracked’ softwares
Do not install cracked softwares or apps, as they may install some other malicious softwares too!
Don’t just click NEXT..NEXT….NEXT..while installing a software.choose “custom installation” mode instead of “standard installation” mode.you will be able to save your self from installing other softwares, toolbars.check for them now and uninstall existing extras from “uninstall a program” in control panel.
3. Never upload your personal data ‘unencrypted’ to dropbox, google drive or any online file sharing services.
It takes not more than 5 minuts to encrypt a zip file or any single file such as a photo, video or a document with AES-256 bit encryption.but it saves you from getting your personal data leaked.and you can relax even if these big companies face a data breach!if using windows, use bitlocker to encrypt hard disk drives with important data!
you may use this software to encrypt your files: https://www.aescrypt.com/download/

4. Crosscheck your Social-Media security settings
Make sure your social networking profiles (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, google+ etc.) are set to private. Check your security settings. never post sensitive information about you online!.  Once it is on the Internet, it is there forever!commenting on various website may show up after 2 years in google search result of your name!try a google search for your name with double quotes. for example: http://bfy.tw/mnR

Showcase your products here,  contact us at admin@cyberworldmirror.com
If you see a weird/abusive facebook post shared by your friend.DO NOT…i repeat DO NOT CLICK THAT.
as it may make you the victim.you should report it to facebook, tell your friend..but never ever …ever ..ever CLICK that.if something is encouraging you to SHARE before letting you access/read it.you know where’s the close button! USE IT!

5. Do not procrastinate update installations (even the “installing 127 of 1204” ones)  !
Keep your applications and operating system (e.g. Windows, Mac, Linux) updated with the latest security updates.these updates are not just limited to adding new features to your system, but it comes with security patches for vulnerabilities in your operating system.
keep common softwares /plugins such as flash player, Microsoft Office
‘up to date’.as they are widely used, hackers are always finding ways to exploit their vulnerabilities.
6. WiFi-The most vulnerable network Ever!!
Always secure your wifi with secure password, WPA2 encryption, etc. Do NOT use public wi-fi for transactions.
if not properly configured, every wifi is vulnerable.
Review and modify default settings and passwords. Never use public wifi, if you have some personal /secret information in your personal/office laptop, they are vulnerable. Avoid conducting financial or corporate transactions on these networks.
7. Encrypt your data (!Important)
Use encryption for your most sensitive files such as tax returns or financial records, make regular back-ups of all your important data, and store it in another location. Do not leave your credit card around that tempts children to use them.
[wpdevart_like_box profile_id=”792637984138412″ connections=”show” width=”300″ height=”150″ header=”small” cover_photo=”show” locale=”en_US”]
8. Secure your Mobile Devices Physically and Digitally.
Be aware that your mobile device is vulnerable to viruses and hackers.Take care of the security even though you download apps ONLY from ‘Google Playstore’.Worst case scenario is getting your phone camera hacked and the hackers may steal the photographs which THEY took from your mobile.
9. Protect your e-identity, look for https://
Be cautious when giving out personal information such as your name, number, address or financial information on the Internet. Make sure that websites are secure and using https.their address will be look like this.
https://www.facebook.com.cyber security: https
https is essential for websites which involve financial transactions. it means the data you send and receive is encrypted.
make sure that you’ve enabled privacy settings (e.g. when accessing/using social networking sites).

10. Do NOT store your card details on websites
If a website insists for storing your credit card information, so that your transactions can be processed faster next time, back off! you will never want to find your credit card information if that website’s database is dumped on pastebin or ghostbin like websites. try searching for last 6 or 8 digits of your credit cards numbers in google with double quotes to make sure that your credit card info is not available on the internet.(it may be available in deepweb).
11. Got hacked??Call the right person/ lawyer / LEA for help
Don’t panic! If you are a victim, if you come to know about any illegal Internet content (e.g. child exploitation) or if you suspect a computer crime, identity theft or a financial scam, report that to respected law enforcement agency. If you have any problems with your personal computer, ask for help only to a trusted person or a certified technician.

How to Not Give a Fuck What People Think

*Personally, I simply buy more gold but lets read the author's spiel.

We‘re all guilty.
Everyday from the moment we wake up, we live our lives caring what other people think of us.
We accept the status quo for what it is because everyone around us does.
We tip toe our way through life by doing things in order to please others, not because it’s what we believe in. Eventually our actions, appearances, and lives become moulded by how we think other people perceive us.
How are these pants going to make me look? What will my colleagues think if I spoke out? Are those people talking shit behind my back? If I take this job, what will my friends and family think of me?
Just writing that paragraph alone gave me a headache…
It’s exhausting. It’s dreadful. It has to stop.
Living a life that follows the ideal notions of what other people think is a terrible way to live. It makes you become the spineless spectator who waits for other people to take action first. It makes you become a follower.
Worst of all, it makes you become someone who doesn’t take a stand for anything.
Today is the last day we live a life dictated by others. Today, we’re going to get to the bottom of the truth. Today is the day we stop giving a fuck.

No one really cares

Believe it or not, we’re not that special.
We go through our days thinking about how other people might be judging us. But the truth is — those people are thinking the exact same thing.
No one in today’s “smartphone crazed” society has time in their schedule to think more than a brief second about us. The fact of the matter is, when we do have time get our thoughts straight, we’re too busy thinking about ourselves and our own shortcomings — not others.
study done by the National Science Foundation claims that people have on average 50,000 plus thoughts a day. This means that even if someone thought about us ten times in one day, it’s only 0.02% of their overall daily thoughts.
“You’ll worry less about what people think about you when you realize how seldom they do.” — David Foster Wallace
It is a sad but simple truth that the average person filters their world through their ego, meaning that they think of most things relating to “me” or “my.” This means that unless you have done something that directly affects another person or their life, they are not going to spend much time thinking about you at all.
I’ve always enjoyed watching performers trying to hustle some change at the New York City train stations. These guys simply know how to not give a fuck.
But the more interesting observation I made is how the spectators react. Rather than watching the actual performers, most people are looking around to see how other people are reacting. If people were laughing, they would start laughing too. But if people weren’t paying attention, they would also pay no mind.

Even when provided the blatantly obvious opportunity to judge someone, people are still thinking about how others may perceive them.
Once you understand that this is how people’s mind works, it’s a big step towards freedom.

You can’t please everyone

It’s impossible to live up to everyone’s expectations.
There will always be people — no matter what we say or how we treat them — that will judge us. Whether you’re at the gym, at work, taking the train, or even online playing Call of Duty. Even now it‘s happening. You will never be able to stop people from judging you, but you can stop it from affecting you.
Think about the worst thing that could possibly happen when someone is judging you or what you’re doing.
I guarantee that chances are — nothing will happen. Absolutely nothing. No one is going to go out of their busy lives to confront us, or even react for that matter. Because as I mentioned before, no one actually cares. What will happen, is that these people will actually respect you for claiming your ground. They may disagree with you, but they’ll respect you.
Start standing up for what you believe in — causes, opinions, anything. You’re going to have people that disagree with you anyways, so why not express how you truly feel?
“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something in life.”— Winston Churchill
I’ve learnt that it’s better to be loved by a few people you care about, than to be liked by everyone. These are family, friends, spouse — the people who love you for who you are, and the people who will be there for you during your worst times. Focus on these people. They’re the only people that matter.

You reap what you sow

Worrying too much about what other people think can become a self-fulfilling prophecy, because the way we think starts to become the way we behave. These individuals become people-pleasers and overly accommodating to others, thinking it will stop them from being judged.
In fact, the opposite is true. Most people don’t like push-overs and are turned off by it. The behaviour we use in an attempt to please others, can actually cause the opposing effect.
If how we think affects our behaviours, then how we behave affects who we attract.
This means that if you’re a push-over, then you’re going to be attracting others in your life who are also push-overs. Vice versa.
This can be quite a dangerous path to go down if you don’t recognize its consequences.
It’s been said that we are the average of the five people we hang out with the most. When we start to attract and associate with the same people that share our weaknesses — we’re stuck. We stop growing, because there’s no one to challenge us to be better. We start thinking that this is the norm and we remain comfortable. This is not a place you want to be.
Now let’s talk about the cure. Here are 5 ways on how to not give a fuck.

How to Not Give a Fuck

1. Know your values

First and foremost. You need to know what’s important to you in life, what you truly value, and what you’re ultimately aiming for. Once you know who you really are and what matters to you, what other people think of you become significantly less important. When you know your values, you’ll have something to stand up for — something you believe in.
You’ll stop saying yes to everything. Instead, you’ll learn to say no when friends pressure you to go bar-hopping, or when a tempting business opportunity that distracts you from your business.
When you have your values straight, you have your shit straight.

2. Put yourself out there

Now that you know what your values are, it’s time to put yourself out there.
This can be done several ways. Here are a few suggestions:
  • Blogging
  • Wearing a polka-dot sweater
  • Public Speaking
  • Flirting/Asking someone out
Keep in mind that when you’re doing any of these activities, you have to speak your mind. Be honest with yourself and what you share, because the world doesn’t need another conflict-avoider who does what everyone else does.

3. Surround yourself with pros

Surround yourself with people who are self-assured, and live life without comprising their core values. These people will rub off on you quickly.
One of my best friends, Cody, has been a big influence on me. Having spent the summer with him, I’ve observed countless times where he strongly voiced his opinion on controversial topics. What I learned was that he was simply voicing opinions that people already had in their heads, but were too afraid to voice. People admired him for being so honest and direct, even when they disagreed with his views.
Thanks for not giving a F@$% Cody.

4. Create a “Growth List”

OK, now we’re getting personal.
I haven’t told anyone this, but I have this list called the “Growth List.”
A Growth List is comprised of all the things in life that makes you uncomfortable. These are fears, insecurities —anything that gives you the jitters.

Smart bombs, smart bullets and now DARPA

DARPA has created the Multi-Azimuth Defense—Fast Intercept Round Engagement System (MAD-FIRES) program to design and develop technologies associated with a medium-caliber guided projectile It will combine the guidance, precision and accuracy generally afforded by missiles with the speed, rapid-fire capability and large ammunition capacity afforded by bullets.
MAD-FIRES aims to advance the state-of-the-art in defensive gun systems by creating a new, low-cost technological foundation for guided, gun-launched projectiles. Specifically, MAD-FIRES aims to incorporate enhanced ammunition rounds able to alter their flight path in real time to stay on target, and a capacity to continuously target, track and engage multiple fast-approaching targets simultaneously and re-engage any targets that survive initial engagement.
Envisioned benefits of MAD-FIRES for future systems include:
  • Improved real-time defense against evolving air and surface combat threats, facilitated by:
  • Extreme precision
  • An ability to defend against greater numbers of simultaneous and diverse attacks
  • Decreased per-engagement costs by a factor of 10 or more
  • Potential future applicability to air and ground platforms
Smarter munitions are needed to cope with smaller threats against US naval ships, such as small motorboats and drones. Attacks by unmanned vehicles, missiles, small planes, fast in-shore attack craft and other platforms pose a perennial, evolving and potentially lethal threat to ships and other maritime vessels. The escalating risks posed by these ever-morphing threats demand that vessels have access to defensive capabilities at the leading edge of air and surface combat technologies. In particular, current close-range gun systems would greatly benefit from an ability to engage multiple and diverse targets coming from a range of directions and do so rapidly and with high precision.
Raytheon already has excalibur shells. They are guided by external fins that pop out after firing and it claims they achieve around 2 meters (6.5 feet) of accuracy with a range of 50km (31 miles). The company already has a smaller version for naval use under development that might be useful for this contract.
DARPA wants to keep costs low enough for mass deployment but accurate enough to be useful against smaller targets.
